Slackware & Wireless PCMCIA

Hey all,

I'm trying to get a wireless card to work on a laptop on which I have installed Slackware. SW kernal is 2.4.31. I've tried using two cards: the Linksys WPC11(v1) and the Lucent/Orinoco Gold 11Mbps series card.

Both cards are generating the following entries, as taken from the gmesg output:

hermnes.c: 4 Dec 2002 David Gibsom
orinoco.c 0.13d
orinoco_cs.c 0.13d
eth1: Error -110 reading firmware info. WIldly guessing capabilities...
eth1: Station identity 0000:0000:0000:0000
eth1: Looks like an Intersil firmware version 0.0.0
eth1: Intersil firmware earlier than v0.8 - several features not supported
eth1: Ad-ho demo mode supported
hermes @ IO 0x100: Error -16 issueing command.
eth1: failed to read MAC address!
orinoco_cs: register_netdev() failed
orinoco_cs.lock() called with hw_unavailable (dev=c0c03800)

Now, I have a pretty extensive WINTEL background, but unfortunately (and why I'm trying to learn all of this) my UNIX/Linux experience is limited. Feel free to type to me like I'm a newbie-- I'll understand.

What should I be doing? What else should I be looking at?

Thanks in advance, everyone!

Yea, I visited that site. Most of it makes sense, but I'm having some trouble installing the mwvlan files. The man assumes that I'm more familiar with the Linux device tree, configuration, and installation proceedures than I actually am.

I've got the mwvlan_cs-1.00.tar.gz file, but I'm having trouble getting it installed.
