Signal level not updted with Intel 2200 BG/ipw2200 card

Hi All,

I am facing a problem while using the ipw2200 driver, we would appreciate your help towards resolving this issue.

When tried to scan the available networks, using the "iwlist" wireless tool ver 29, it is being seen that the Signal levels remain unchanged for a very long time, inspite after scanning repetedly. The ipw2200 driver is not updating the signal levels of the detected networks, instead it retains the old signal levels.

Is this an issue with the driver or is there a specific configuration to be made towards the correct working of the driver?

The details of the system are as follows:

Laptop : Dell D610
Operating System: Fedora Core 5.
WLAN Hardware : Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 2200BG (rev 05)
Driver : ipw2200-1.2.1/ ipw2200-fw-3.0 /ieee80211-1.2.15
Wireless Tools : version 29-pre10

Please let us know if there is any resolution available for correcting this problem.

Many thanks in advance.

Regards,
Basu

I don't have the solution to this, but I have the same device and the same driver versions, and I can confirm that I also don't see signal levels being set (eg. Kismet never reports sensible signal levels).

My guess would be that this is a driver problem.

I hate you Airforce Broadcom wireless

I am pretty sure you have a broadcom chip

if I would have known how much time it would have taken to get wireless on my Lattitude D610 I would have bought a linux supported wireless card.
