Sierra Wireless Aircard 750 jammed
I followed SierraWireless instructions and got this:
# pppd call ac750
send (AT^M^M)
expect (OK)
<getting jammed here>
my ac750:6
-detach
/dev/modem
57600
debug
defaultroute
usepeerdns
user ''
show-password
crtscts
lock
connect '/usr/sbin/chat -e -V -v -s -t480 -f /etc/ppp/peers/ac750chat'
my ac750chat:
'' AT
OK ATZ
OK AT+cgdcont=1,"IP","internet"
OK "ATD*99#" TIMEOUT 480
\~ ''
Laptop is Asus A4B00K and card is Sierra Wireless Aircard 750 GPRS,
Slackware 10.1 , non-modified kernel. Anyone gone this path through
to light?

you should be dialing #777, or 777#, I don't remember which off the top of my head. I'm assuming this is for the verizon network, but the sprint network should behave the same.
Also, I'm assuming that you've already activated the card at a reseller, and enabled it for the network using a windows machine. If you haven't done these things, it won't connect.
It would also be much more helpful if you posted the pppd output, dmesg output, and lsmod output.

This reply comes from the same AirCard (using Windows).
Network operator is Orange, if you mean that.
