Question Should custom SSID name be short or long?

Hi.

Should I change my SSID to a long or short name? Does it matter either way?

Would a long SSID be more secure from attackers? I ask as I read somewhere that it's advised to change the SSID to a long name (and include numbers) but I don't see how this is better over a short name.

Thanks.

IMHO it does not matter. Since a SSID is broadcast and can be discovered even if hidden length or complexity is not a factor. You still might want the SSID to be random so not to advertise yourself or the router's brand etc. Its more important to use WPA with a complex passphrase to deter attackers.
