setting up a wireless router using eth.cable??

hello everyone.
I have just bought a wireless router (Philips ADSL Wireless Base Station 11g SNA6500).
I am trying to install the software that comes with the package but it can be installed.
Is there any other way to set up the router without installing this software? ex. using ethernet from my computer to the router? And if there is how i could it?
Thanx in advance

Not much luck finding info on this device as far as detail specs. I would try the following IP address in a web browser.
http://192.168.0.1
http://192.168.1.1
http://192.168.2.1

About all I know to try.

I think some routers need no installation while the others require it.

The best way is to establish a wired link using the ethernet port to avoid the unknown factors associated with a wireless connection.

The Router would have an IP address that you can type in with any broswer to make the connection. It can be something like 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.2.0 depending how the router is set in the factory.

I think you can configure the router this way and don't forget to install the password. You don't want a hacker get into your wireless router to change its settings do you? You should also install the firewall too so that no wireless connection can be made to your wireless router without the correct key generated by the router.
