Setting essid on DWL510 with ndiswrapper 0.10
Hi,
I have the card DWL510 from DLink. Everything is configured fine, but to set my network I need to set the essid. The diod on the card is blinking. if I enter Code:
iwconfig wlan0 essid "Something" Code:
iwconfig wlan0 I have installed ndiswrapper 0.10, also tried the same thing with 0.8. Linux: Suse9.1 proffesional, kernel 2.6.5-7.111-default For any help I'll be very thankfull,:) If I don't come futher with ndiswrapper, than I have to buy the Linuxantdriver, which is working fine on one of my cards on one of my 2 computers. Greetings Lutz |
Did you try:
Code:
iwconfig wlan0 mode managed |
Yes, I have tried that now and
after that no success!! |
That means, if I enter
Code:
iwconfig wlan0 mode Managed I tried both drivers, NET8180.SYS which I downloaded from realtec, and edited some changes and that what was deliverd with dlink on the installation disk, NETDWL.SYS. Same problem with both. It seems, the cards does't accept to change the parameters with the driver installed with ndiswrapper!  :study: |
I am also having troubles setting the essid of my wireless card using ndiswrapper. Plus when I use iwgetid, strange, unreadable characters appear and recently, after done a iwgetid, all the characters of the current terminal session are unreadable - very strange.
Have you solved your problem or has anyone have an idea what could be wrong? Thanks Mandrake 10.0 kernel 2.6.7 + 2.6.9 |
I gave back the cards to the shop and bought DWL 520+ cards, they have the acx100 chipset and are easy to install and working fine!
