NTFS RPM for those with Fedora and linuxant kernels

Hi folks,

Using the instructions that the developer put together, I have compiled an rpm for the latest Fedora Core 3 kernel. This is for those wanting ntfs access on their system - which doesnt come as standard with Fedora due to patent issues - and use the 16k stack size kernels kindly provided by linuxant to get over driver resource issues.

This is the place to get them.
Regards
Chris

P.S. - I know this isnt technically a WLAN post but felt it was the best place to put it.

You know, it might be worth asking the mods to sticky this one.

snecklifter 01-20-2005 05:01 PM

I thought about it but as its not essential for the running of ndiswrapper I decided against it. Figured if David Ross - who I think mods this subforum - wanted to sticky it he would. Maybe better in the Fedora forum - whaddya think?

Hangdog42 01-20-2005 08:17 PM

I guess I'm for a sticky either place. Here is probably a bit more appropriate. I just see so many people with Fedora having trouble with wireless that I hate to lose track of a good idea. Of course you could probably add this to a tutorial. That would do the same thing.

Update: The _741 rpm has now been added.

snecklifter 02-04-2005 01:48 PM

An update to this. The .760 16k stack size rpm is now available, both from linuxant and the ntfs rpm from linux-ntfs.sourceforge.net.
Cheers
Chris

The .766 kernel rpm has now been added

The .770 kernel rpm has now been added.

I need to know about a larger kernel for Fedora Core 2. I'm real new to this stuff.

snecklifter 03-13-2005 04:43 AM

Hey kimbrt,

This isnt a larger kernel, just one that has been recompiled to allow windows drivers that are wrapped to provide wireless networking to be able to run. Standard Fedora kernels only have 4k memory stacks whereas Linuxant recompile with 16k. Only use the Linuxant kernel if you are having problems getting wireless drivers to load using ndiswrapper or driverloader. Check out my bookmarks for more info.

Chris

So, is it better to recompile my kernel or download some new one? And where and how would I do this?

snecklifter 03-13-2005 04:59 PM

Better for what? I'm not really sure what you mean when you are asking for a larger kernel..

klmbrt 03-13-2005 07:04 PM

I speaking of the larger stack for the NDIS Wrapper

snecklifter 03-14-2005 04:16 AM

Then check out the link at the top of this post and you can download the latest one for FC2.

i386_64

just so you all are aware their is a version of FC3 available for AMD64 machines

here at http://fedora.redhat.com/download/

I am currently Downloading it to see if this resolves issues with the modprobe ndiswrapper command locking up the system.
