Problems installing Airsnort on Suse 9.1

I am currently trying to install Airsnort on Suse 9.1. I am probably doing something wrong since I can not get it to work. I am new to Linux so please write slowly and use big words.
I have enclosed the log so that you can see where it fails:
Running autoconf ...
Running ./configure --enable-maintainer-mode ...
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking for gawk... gawk
checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... no
checking whether to enable maintainer-specific portions of Makefiles... yes
checking for style of include used by make... none
checking for gcc... gcc
checking for C compiler default output file name... configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables
See `config.log' for more details.
