problem with firmware installation

I have Intel 3945abg wireless chip. trying ro use it in RHEL5.3. I installed the driver. I copied the firmware to /lib/firmware directory. When i am trying "ifup wlan0" its giving error on firmware. I checked my system for /etc/hotplug/firmware.agnet file. But it does not exist.( /etc/hotplug directory itself is not there. What is to be done to properly install the firmware

The file name for the firmware which Linux was searching, and the one which was installed in /lib/firmware folder was not matching.
Solved by renaming the file.
