Question problem with authentification / general

Hello

I have a problem with setting up my WLAN pcmcia card to work with an AP. I'm using OpenSuse 10.1 and a Trendware TEW 226 PC with Realtek 8190 which worked directly after the suse installation.

The problem is :
I entered all settings in Yast2 (ESSID, WEP key...), but it seems that wireless network doesn't work. Even without using WEP, the connection doesn't work...

What I tried :

I. wireless without WEP

I configured the AP with no WEP encryption, use DHCP and broadcast its ESSID. Just to test if WLAN works with Suse...

For configuration I used :
Yast2 - network device - traditional method with ifup

Then KWifimanager found the AP, but couldn't connect to it :
KWifiManager - Scan for Networks - [mark AP name] - switch to network

"aborting network switching due to invalid WEP key specification"

Code:
susit:~ # ifstatus wlan0
wlan0 device: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8180L 802.11b MAC (rev 20)
    wlan0 configuration: wlan-id-00:40:f4:9e:7e:d2
wlan0 is prepared for use with ifplugd

II. wireless with WEP

I used Yast2 to configure the WLAN card :
Mode : managed
ESSID : ...
Authentification : open (??)
WEP : asci ...

Then I found the config I just made in /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-wlan-id-00:40:...

Anyway, when I start KWifiManager again, the following settings appear :

connected to network : (ESSID name)
accesspoint : no ap
own ip : unavailable
frequency : (scanning)

When I hit "search for networks", a "hidden cell, managed, WEP on" is found. When I hit "switch to network" the error message "Switching to the network aborted due to invalid WEP key"

So, does anyone has an idea why wireless doesn't work ?
