Problem installing Netgear MA311 Wireless Card

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to install my Netgear MA311 Wireless Card.

I've followed the instructions I got on various websites around the web, but I'm still having problems 'activating' the connection.

Here is the error Message I get when I click 'Activate' in my Network Configuration Window:

Quote:
Error for wireless request "Set Mode" (8B06) :
SET failed on device wlan0 ; Function not implemented.
Error for wireless request "Set Frequency" (8B04) :
SET failed on device wlan0 ; Function not implemented.
Error for wireless request "Set Bit Rate" (8B20) :
SET failed on device wlan0 ; Function not implemented.
Error for wireless request "Set Encode" (8B2A) :
SET failed on device wlan0 ; Function not implemented.
Error for wireless request "Set ESSID" (8B1A) :
SET failed on device wlan0 ; Function not implemented.

Determining IP information for wlan0...
I'm a total Newbie, so please be gentle with me.

Did you figure out how to make it work? I have similar error trying to connect to my Netgear MR814, get this error:

Error for wireless request "Set Mode" (8B06) :

I can connect to other wireless hub just fine. I'm using Linxant wrapper and have IPW2200 card.

What's wrong?

Hi, I got the same error on linksys wusb12 device as well. README file on www.linux-wlan.com asks you to ignore the error. and suggects that you run *certain* commands to make it work. I ran and it worked..... here are the comments from README file refer to the latest for accurate information....

--------------
FOR USB USERS:

A) Make sure your kernel usb support is running
B) Plug in the Prism2.x USB device
C) Run 'modprobe prism2_usb prism2_doreset=1' to load the driver into memory.
D) Run 'wlanctl-ng wlan0 lnxreq_ifstate ifstate=enable' to initialize the
driver+MAC functions.
E) Run 'wlanctl-ng wlan0 lnxreq_autojoin ssid=<your ssid> authtype=opensystem'
to enable the MAC in Infrastructure Station mode.
F) Run 'ifconfig wlan0 <your IP address>'
-----------------

I replaced the last command with 'ifup wlan0' to pick up my dhcp settings. It works great now!
