I'm thinking of setting up a server (in a back room somewhere).. Linux is of course my preferred OS (no preference on distro as yet).
I need to have it connected to a wireless access point (and planning to do so via ethernet cable). I'll then have hosts (physically removed) connecting to that AP (probably using winXP)...
ie,
Server --etho-->[802.11g router]<--802.11g-- winXP
Is there any distro that this would be easier with or any gotcha's that should be planned for?
Your best bet would be Debian based distro, no setup required apart from pppoed installed (apt-get install pppoed), with accounts setup, and iptables doing its work, forwarding packets from the wireless network out to the net and vice versa.
