No NetworkManager!
 

I recently tried to uninstall and reinstall NetworkManager. It would recognize my home network, but would not connect. It is missing now, and I cannot connect to the internet, even with a wire connection. I have tried to install with a tar.bz2 and tar.gz. In the terminal when I try to make or make install, I get an error stating that there is no make file. How can I install it? I can only connect to the internet through the windows partition on the computer.

I have fedora 15.

reinstall

and next time do not uninstall the software that makes connecting to the net possible and then try to connect to the net to install it.

also if this was a VMware install you can NOT use wireless
wireless dose not work in a VM.

Hah, I know right? I did get the wired connection to work, but it's not connecting to any protected wireless networks.

what were you trying to do ?
what commands did you try ?
saying it is broken is of no real help in trying to diagnose a problem

it is like telling a doctor " it hurts" with out telling the doc what "it" is


a install to the harddrive of fedora normally will find most wireless connections in the local area
automatically .
or if not with a bit of fussing with it.

I'm trying to connect to my wireless internet at home. My wired connection works fine, and I've tried reinstalling NetworkManager. I've also tried running nm-connection-editor, but I get this:

GConf Error: Failed to contact configuration server; the most common cause is a missing or misconfigured D-Bus session bus daemon. See http://projects.gnome.org/gconf/ for information. (Details - 1: Failed to get connection to session: The connection is closed)

Nevermind, I rolled back the system another level and now it can connect to my protected wireless.
