Newbie Wireless card config

I'm a total novice to linux and I'm trying to get my wireless PCMCIA card to work in Linux. It works fine under Windows. I'm running Mandrake Linux 10, and the wnic is generic (no company or product name) although the Windows drivers that came with it are for a TI card. I'd like to get this one working under linux so I won't have to buy another one. Does anyone have any ideas? I'll be glad to post additional information if required.

Finding a wifi card that is supported is fairly tough. There is no way to even begin to help you until we find out if the card is prism based, aironet, hermes, or orinoco. Some cards end up being configured as eth1 some as wlan0. If you run iwconfig do you get any output? Also, the 802.11b seem to have a much better chance of working than 802.11g cards.

Do you have the actual model/maker of the card or anything that might get us in the right direction?

I did a FCC lookup on its ID number and found out that the card's manufacturer is Abocom Sys. and its model # is WG2400. Its data sheet says its chipset is Texas Instruments. Also, when I run iwconfig, i get a "command not recognized" error.
