Question Netgear WG121 on Ubuntu

Hi, I'm new here to the forum and to Linux. I just installed a new distro of Ubuntu (Hoary Hedgehog).

Of course, I would like to connect to the internet with my computer, but the only way I can do this is to use my Netgear WG121 802.11g Wireless Adaptor.

Does anyone know if the driver is already supplied with this distribution of Ubuntu? Or will I have to find a driver.

Can somebody help me find a driver for my Wireless USB Adaptor and teach me how to install it?

Unfortunately I am currently stuck using a Windows XP computer to connect to the internet and I am dearly looking forward to being able to do this on my sweet new Ubuntu.

Thanks for all of your help!

NDiswrapper is the way forward i believe. It works by loading the windows driver, and wrapping it for use by linux. An ugly solution, but the only way to go for some cards. It seems yours is supported

Card: NETGEAR WG121 Wireless USB2.0 Adapter
Chipset: Prism54 (I don't know more)
usbid: 0846:4200
Driver: WG121 Software Version 2.0, NETGEAR Inc.,03/09/2004, from http://www.netgear.com
Other: Seems to work well. I had to upload the new firmware by running the installation on WinXP, but now it works. If anyone knows another way, please edit this. I used the drivers in the ndis5-directory of the unzipped download.

Check out

and

http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/p...dex.php/Ubuntu

for installation instructions.

Good luck
