need a cheap wifi card that works out of the box - any ideas?

I was using an old Netgear 802.11 B router which I just upgraded to a Belkin N150.
Previously I was using a mac address filter to permit only certain addresses on the network (found out that its not too secure).
On the Belkin I have set up WPA personal.
One of my pc's on linux mint gloria works fine (airlink DW-150 or something like that)
the other has a netgear MA311 which has wep but no WPA - tried messing around a little with wpa_supplicant but nothing.
So to minimize the fuss and get my kid back online I want to replace the wifi card.

Will linksys WUSB54G v4 work out of the box?? has anyone tried it??
Is there anything else that is cheap, easy to find that will work out of the box??

Ideas are very simple.

You have to choose linux, which someone is going to use.
You need to find a forum for that particular linux and ask there, which wifi card is going work "from a box"

When I'm start thinking about getting new wireless, I have found good solution - wireless modem (AP+Client+Bridge), it connects to my computer through ETHERNET, so no drivers = no problems, it has web setup interface.
For example Trendnet TEW-638APB Wireless Bridge. Take a look.

In general, USB cards are more problematic than PCI bus cards. As for what works out of the box, you need to pay attention to chipsets. Intel does a very good job supporting their chipsets in Linux. Avoid anything with a Broadcom chipset (which Linksys tends to be fond of).

...and what makes this a bit difficult, is the nasty habit the manufacturers have of changing chipsets without making it very apparent. Someone may have a hypothetical early abc1234 with one chipset and you may buy a late abc1234 with a different chipset. If you are very, very lucky it says abc1234a somewhere on the package and has a different approvals number.

Thanks to everyone who contributed.
I have decided to try the D Link Range Booster G

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/D-Link+-...Link&cp=1&lp=3

It has an Atheros chipset and my D-link DWL-210 worked pretty much out of the box on Linux Mint Gloria.
So I think I will give it a go and see what happens, It will need the madwifi drivers and I will keep you posted as to my results.

A useful link for wireless cards was found at
http://linux-wless.passys.nl/
you can search by manufacturer, or slot or chipset.
The card I have chosen shows up at:
