My wireless card seems to be disabled!?!

Hi there,

I've been trying to get wireless internet working for about a week now with no success. I've downloaded the correct drivers, configured the card and I still had no luck.

So today I started looking a bit more closely at my hardware. I think the memory of my wirelesshttp://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=41 card may be disabled. In Yast admin I looked at "Hardware information". I can see my wireless card, under memory it says: "Mem :Active: No"

And also when I run lspci -v in my console it actually says the memory of the card is disabled. See below:

Quote:

00:0b.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5005G 802.11abg NIC (rev 01)
Subsystem: AMBIT Microsystem Corp. Unknown device 0420
Flags: medium devsel, IRQ 3
Memory at e4010000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [] [size=64K]
Capabilities: [44] Power Management version 2

Does anyone know anything about the memory of wireless cards?
Can anyone tell me how to enable it... can it be enabled?

mary

Lets try this without the mistakes!

Sorry about that, I tried to highlight the "disabled" in the the output and I deleted it by mistake!

Here is my Output from lspci -v:

Quote:

00:0b.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5005G 802.11abg NIC (rev 01)
Subsystem: AMBIT Microsystem Corp. Unknown device 0420

Capabilities: [44] Power Management version 2

Does anyone know anything about the memory of wireless cards?
Can anyone tell me how to enable it... can it be enabled?

Visit the madwifi site: http://madwifi.org/

I have already installed the madwifi rpm's and I have been through the configuration of the wireless card. It still doesn't work and it still says that the memory of my wireless card is disabled.
