mn-720 and FC3 kernel panic on insert/boot

I have a Microsoft MN-720 Wireless (g) PCMCIA card that I am using with my Vaio R505 laptop. I installed ndiswrapper 1.0rc2 and am using the drivers from the microsoft cd (mn720.inf and mn720-50.sys) as the other ones on the ndiswrapper wiki didnt give power to the card (despite saying hardware present). Now whenever I start up with the card inserted or insert it during run time i get the following kernel panic:

PCI: Enabling device 0000:03:00.0 (0000 -> 0002)
Kernel panic - not syncing: /home/steve/Desktop/ndiswrapper-1.0rc2/driver/ndis.c:891: spin_lock(/home/steve/Desktop/ndiswrapper-1.0rc2/driver/ntoskernel.h:cc894 c60) already locked by /home/steve/Desktop/ndiswrapper-1.0rc2/driver/ndis.c/891

Weird thing is /home/steve/Desktop/ndiswrapper no longer exists (thats where i originally untarred but after a make install i got rid of it).

I saw a notice on "make install" mentioning 4K spin locks or something like that..any suggestions on how to fix this M$ p.o.s.?

Thanks in advance

Hey big_mac,

I've been having quite a few problems with rc2, can I suggest you use 0.12 in the meantime and see if that works any better for you? However it might pay to get the 16k kernel from linuxant. Check out the ndiswrapper wiki distributions page for the link.

Chris

I've been trying with the 16k stack kernel from linuxant on FC3 with a Minitar MN54GCB-R (Ralink m2500 drivers downloaded from the ralinktech site) ndiswrapper 0.12 and getting exactly the same kernel panic message.

The odd thing is that it occasionally works? I have been adding and removing a usb hub with a usb-ethernet adapter and mouse attached but there doesn't seem to be any pattern that I can make out.

I have also tried disabling acpi using acpi=off in the kernel parameters but that seeme to make no difference at all.

I should add that I'm using a Dell Inspiron 5000 notebook.

hmm..well switching back to 0.12 actually resolved my problems for some reason, and its working beautifully...im not sure what could be done for your problem...maybe try with the stock fc3 kernel if its an option?

I switched over to ndiswrapper-1.0RC4 and that seems to work well, provided I switch kudzu off. Gee it'll be nice when this stuff stabilises. I only wish I could contribute more to these things. Maybe one day.
