LinuxQuestions.org - MN-520 problems

Let's see, I've tried my old edimax RTL8180 card........ Then I went to get a DWL-650 but it was rev P.... So now I'm finally trying the MN-520. I have edited /etc/pcmcia/config as instructed in the forums and I have gotten the card to seem like it wants to work. Once, in an open system without WEP, I was able to get it to connect by specifying:

Mode: Auto
SSID: MyNetwork
Channel: MyChannel
Transmit Rate: 11 mbps
Key: MyKey (What I would be changing my key to after I found out that the open system worked)

I then deactivated it, and activated it. From then on I get weird blinking lights. The Power is always on. Wireless blinks about once every half-second, and about every second or two, flashes very fast for a half second, and then back to the blinking every half-second. After some time (a few minutes) the fast blinking doesn't happen anymore, and only the slow blinking persists. It seems as though all of a sudden the card has gone berserk. I tried to change some settings like mode to managed and ad-hoc and tried lowering the transmit rate, but to no avail. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it very much. My whole weekend has been devoted to Linux + Wireless with no results and $50 bucks down (I can always return of course, but come on....).
