Madwifi driver / WEP HOW?

I have an Atheros wireless card and have the madwifi driver working. But I am able to access only networks with no encryption. How do I get the driver to work for a network with 40 (Hex) WEP encryption key ? (The docs say it supports WEP) .

Where do I specify the key?
Also where would be the startup configuration file for this interface i.e., ath0 ?

Thanks
Arun

You can set the key with an iwconfig command. I don't know where that file is in slack but I do know it's in a different place than debian has. Couldn't find it very quick.

Is it rc.wireless.conf ? Does Madwifi use this ?

Also If I use iwconfig do I need to give the key every time I boot up the system ?

Well it's not what madwifi uses it's what your system uses to check for your madwifi card. The comments in there suggest it's just a file for checking which card you have, it doesn't seem to do any interface stuff (though I'm not really sure). Slackware is my test&play distro so I don't really know my way around if things work automatically. Maybe asking this particular thing in the slack forum could get you an answer quicker than waiting here for someone to see it.

Unless you set the key automatically at boot you'll have to keep setting it. You can run scripts on boot with that rc stuff as well.
