M6505 Wireless Blues

I have an eMachines M6805 with a freshly installed version of Knoppix 3.6. I want to use my Wireless card in linux but I have been having some troubles with the ndiswrapper. When I installed the drivers that came with my machine, nothing becomes enabled. I ran iwconfig and got the following:

don@deadwin:~$ iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

eth1 no wireless extensions.

sit0 no wireless extensions.

when I run 'ndiswrapper -l' I get this:

don@deadwin:~$ ndiswrapper -l
Installed ndis drivers:
bcmwl5

I believe eth1 to be my wireless adapter (I am sure eth0 is the wired 10/100), but I am relatively a newbie when it comes to linux, and expecially linux networking. Any help is greatly apprieciated. Thanks

Did you run

modprobe ndiswrapper

usually by default, ndiswrapper will refer to you wireless adapter as wlan0.
