I installed SuSE 9.3 Pro on my thinkpad with a D-link DWL-g650 (atheros). I installed madwifi via yast. I am able to connect via wifi, but not if I want to use WEP 64 or 128. I tried three different AP's.
I configure it like this:
ifconfig ath0 down
iwconfig ath0 essid <name> key open <bbbbbbbbbb> channel <11> mode <managed>
ifconfig ath0 up <IPaddress>
when I type iwconfig I see the MAC of the AP. In the AP menu I can see the MAC of the D-link PCMCIA as being associated.
But I cannot ping anything and DHCP doesn't work either.
Without the WEP key everything works fine, also DHCP.
Also Kismet works O.K.
Does anyone has an idea?
Thx a lot ! ! !
Chris
P.S.: With live distros like Whax and Security Auditor --> same prob
How exactly are you entering the key? Is it a number or a string, if it's not a hex number then you need to do "iwconfig ath0 key s:blah" (for key "blah"). Also does another computer work with the ap?
