linux hangs when enabling wireless card

I have a 3crwe777a card which is meant to be a supported card for wlan and I am running Fedora Core 1 but I have since updated the kernel to 2.6.3, now when installing the wlan packages as outlined in the website at siliconvalleyccie.com/linux-hn/wmp11-linux.htm, all packages install fine until I attempt to install the module kernel-wlan-ng-pci-0.2.1-pre14.i686.rpm, the install just hangs and eventually will come up with a scriptlet error and segmentation fault. I had tried to install the tar package at linux-wlan.org/pub/linux-wlan-ng/ prior to all this which didnt work so I dont know if there is some components left over from this causing issues, or is it the fact that I update the kernel to 2.6.3. I also did a recommendation i saw somewhere to remove the alias to eth3 for the card in modprobe.conf, and to redect the device, which i have done.

When I do iwconfig I can see my card, here are its details :

dev14665 IEEE 802.11-DS ESSID:"" Nickname:"Prism I"
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.462GHz Access Point: 00:00:00:00:00:00
Bit Rate:11Mb/s Tx-Power=15 dBm Sensitivity:1/0
Retry min limit:8 RTS thrff Fragment thrff
Encryption keyff
Power Managementff
Link Quality:0/0 Signal level:-122 dBm Noise level:-122 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0

So I presume the kernel can see the card, although coming up dev14665 not wlan0 but it just doesnt seem to want to connect. I have seen alot of stuff on this site about ndiswrapper is this something I should load ?

any suggestions appreciated

ndiswrapper is a program that lets you load the Windows drivers for your card. http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net <- main page
http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/phpwiki/index.php/ <- click on link what says "List" to see if your card is supported.
