Linux drivers for wireless network cards

My current interest is to write and implement wireless network cards for linux. I have been emailed several companies to ask to provide specfications for their products. All I got is "NO". Does anyone know where I can find a generic linux driver for the wireless network cards. Thanks!

There is no generic driver because all of the chipsets work differently, and in some cases, support different features. There are specific drivers for the orinoco based cards, prism based, cards, ADM based cards, atheros based cards, and probably a lot more. I am currently working on a installation how-to for all the cards I can find any information on, but it is coming pretty slowly.

Re:

Thanks a lot! The links are very helpful. But it seems that only Intersil Prism chipset is supported. What about wireless hardwares using other chipsets? Is there an way to get the specifications ( technical details) for the other chipsets, in order to write linux drivers?
