I'm looking for a router which comes with an inbuilt modem and firewall, and which is reliable (i.e will not just disconnect from the 256k broadband connection at random, and if it does, to reconnect automaticaly), preferably 802.11g. I'd also like some Windows/Linux compatible PCMCIA 802.11g wifi cards, and a USB wifi adaptor too for my desktop. I'm trying to create a home network for my grandparents, but I'd like the system to be secure, reliable, and easy to maintain (in case they have a problem, so I can tell them how to do it over the phone). It is pointless me stating this, but it would be great if both the router/modem/firewall and the wifi adaptors would be WPA-TKIP compatible, and that the router could have some more advanced options (i.e MAC filtering, SSID broadcast disabling, etc...). It'd be great if you could tell me your experience with one you've used too! Thanks in advance,
Yes I have, but after searching through it for a long time I gave up!
I was just wondering if one of you could give me your own personal opinion, and then once I have some details, I'll then check the HCL for other people's reviews.
OK so which router/modem do you have? As I said before, I'm looking for a reliable router (with an inbuilt modem), and I'd just like to know which make AND model you are using. Just a quick review from you! :P
Personally, I don't own a router. I just connect to my friend's Belkin when I'm at his place =)
I posted the RALink link because you mentioned 802.11g cards and those are supported by a completely GPL'd driver, no fighting with firmware or ndiswrapper crap.
