From that site:

There used to be a driver specific for the 3945 hardware (ipw3945 hosted on ipw3945.sourceforge.net). This project is deprecated, please use the iwlwifi driver instead.
I am running a laptop with the 2.6.24 kernel, which has all the iwlwifi stuff built-in. All I had to add was the microcode. Everything seems to be working perfectly.
