I'm trying to get my internet on Debian running. I'm using a wireless connection with linksys wmp11v2.7 so I downloaded and installed ndiswrapper, which works ok now as far as I can tell (ie it does what it's supposed to do by the tutorial). I ran the command which detects the NIC on startup. iwconfig only shows this :

lo no wireless extensions.

Though according to the tutorial it should show wlan0 and eth0 as well. Now I've managed to screw up something which prevents me from seeing my kernel setup, I think I deleted some libraries while I was trying to upgrade clib6, so I can't see my exact details on kernel support of wireless network.

Before I go installing Debian all over so I can update the kernel again, I haven't touched anything in the network settings is it so that makes it quite likely I forgot to install those drivers in the kernel isn't it? Is this a symptom of forgetting to install them?

what does "ifconfig" show you?

might be some typing errors cause I had to write them down and type it out again.

But this is the basic stuff for no connection isn't it?

I also found a site that said you needed to install some stuff in the kernel and leave out some options so I think I need to do that now.

OK I did the kernel update and installed ndiswrapper and the driver. I added the alias to a file.

But still if I run iwconfig wlan0 (I have to put wlan0 behind it cause otherwise it will only show l0 no wireless extensions) it shows

wlan0 no wireless extensions

So what could be the problem? Doesn't my card get recognized (it should saw another thread in which someone got it working), I added all PCI support in the kernel and the wireless option as well.
Do I have to manually add everything so it gets shown, if so how would I do that?

Finally it recognises my card!

If only there were 1 driver on the CD with the name of the card. It seems that the driver is lsipnds.inf instead of wmp11nds.inf. Why put a driver on the cd with the name of the card while it actally isn't the driver :S
