Is there a graphical wireless management tool (like Windows has)?
I'm running Fedora Core 2 on a Dell Inspiron 1100 with a Dell TrueMobile 1300 802.11b/g card. The card is running fine under ndiswrapper.
I'd like to take my laptop out & about to different hotspots in the area. But I don't always know what SSID to use at these locations. And, at one place, I have a plaintext code to use to generate the WEP key, but not the WEP key itself. In XP, there is a single place I can go to view the available wireless connections, pick one to use, and configure my system for it. Is there a similar program available for Linux (preferably that will run in Gnome, since Fedora installed it by default)? I'm sure I could use a combination of a wifi sniffer and iwconfig, but I'd prefer an integrated solution. |
In linux there is always more then one choice, the problem is which is the best.

Wouldn't you know it? I finally get wireless working well under Linux and the hard drive on my laptop died.
Dell is sending a replacement my way, and I'll be sure to follow up on this post when I'm back up & running. :) |
