is the ipw3945 driver due for inclusion into upcoming kernel?

Hi

Is there a schedule to release the ipw3945 intel wireless drivers into an upcoming kernel? I understand that there is the sourceforge project, but I use ubuntu and it would be nice for an installation to install these drivers via the distros packet manager rather than the source way...

Cheers
Steve

A) Don't run Ubuntu, it blows and should be smothered out. It is the worst distribution in history, and also it is a security risk because they seem to have a big problem with keeping their packages up to date, despite that it has more resources now than any other distribution.
B) No, it is still in development. I am running an experimental driver for a differnet card, it can cause some big problems at the moment. They do not often include experimental device drivers into the main kernel anymore.
C) Maybe someone has an apt repo for Ubuntu that has deb packages of drivers like this, but Ubuntu users being rather cognitivly challenged, I dount anyone who uses it could manage this simple task.

Cheers for the thoughts - the reason for using ubuntu is because at a professional level we use Debian on all of our servers. I wanted a distro which is Debian at heart, but is nice to use as a desktop... (and I don't like KDE - all personal prefs though ) I can get the ipw3945 drivers working, it's just that they seem to take ages to connect - still in development etc, I know...

Do you, or anyone else, no if the Belkin 802.11g Wireless G USB Network Adapter (http://www.amazon.co.uk/) is supported and can be made to work in Linux? (or suggest another)

Cheers
Steve

No idea, you would need to find out what chipset it is based on.
