is "iwlist scan" possible with Netgear MA401?

This is my current "grail" if someone can confirm success with this I'd be interested to hear there config details or where they read about how to get it to work. If no-one reports success I may give up!

I've googled but had no soild confirmations but I have seen intimations on mailing lists of yore.

I've tried the orinoco 15rc drivers but can't get them to be detected, i've tried the wlan-ng26 but they just seemed overly complicated and now I am on the hostap drivers - which seem to work ok but actually don't.

I have had the card set up and working fine for years but we are trying to implement scanning support for our distro and i need a test bed!
