ioctl[SIOCSIWAUTH]: Operation not supported [Fedora 8 on Broadcom 4318 chipset]
More wireless trouble on the 4318 chipset. I've managed to get the wlan0 interface to admit that it's present and functional using b43-fwcutter on the firmware, then running modprobe b43. My problem is when I try to connect to my WPA-encrypted home network. I've started Network Manager and wpa_supplicant, and added the following to /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf:
You can tattoo "NOOB" across my face anytime you feel like it, but....any ideas?
I've already double-checked the password...unless....it doesn't have to be in hex or something, does it?
No, it doesn't have to be in hex. However, you may have missed something in your wpa_supplicant.conf entry. Here is mine:
# WPA protected network, supply your own ESSID and WPAPSK here:
Yours doesn't have a group=TKIP entry, and that might be important. You also might want to add a -Bw flag to your wpa_supplicant startup. That puts it into the background and has it wait until the interface is up before it configures it.
Lastly, if you temporarily turn off WPA, can you connect to your router? Oh, and are you running these commands as root?
