internal wireless car: broke in windows, but is present in linux?

i have an odd predicament. i have an internal dell truemobile 1450 a/b/g wireless card that one day decided not to work on me after reinstalling windows. the driver couldn't be installed cause the "device was not found". when i recently jumped on the bandwagon of slackware users, i ran lspci -v and it shows up clear as day that the wireless card is there. i was wondering if that means that my card is working and if i could set it up for wireless in linux. if someones believes that it will still work, does anyone know the best way to do it?
thanks

make sure the card is enabled in BIOS
recognizing the device on the bus doesn't necessarily mean it works

also for linux the truemobile device uses a broadcom chipset.
specifically BCM4309
so the best bet in getting it to work is:
http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/

i downloaded the new driver for the card and it worked in windows..i guess the device drivers cd that the laptop came with was faulty with the one part or something.. that was odd. anyway... yeah i was gonna try the ndiswrapper. thanks

M$ "security" patches like to break device drivers. i'm sure they worked at one point.
