Red face intel pro/wireless 2200BG

I´m a new user with mandrake 10.0 and kernel 2.6.11 and have an HP/dv 1000 series laptop with built in intel pro wireless 2200BG. I already download the IPW2200-2.2 firmware and the ipw2200-1.1.2 driver I try to install this but I can´t make it work .

Thanks for your help.

How far have you gotten with this install? did you get any errors? Do you have 'wireless tools' installed? This driver is actually quite tricky to setup but when done in the correct order should work.
type #iwconfig (if something happens then you have wireless tools installed)

You need to download and install the 'ieee802.11' wireless stack (or have it instlled already)..
then you need to download the 'IPW2200 driver + IPW2200 firmware) <- which it looks like you have done.

Once you know that you have the wireless tools installed definately and that the ieee802.11 stack is installed then.
untar ipw2200 to /tmp/ipw2200
untar ipw2200-fw to /tmp/ipw2200firmware

go into /tmp/ipw2200
#make
#make install

now 'copy' the files from /tmp/ipw2200firmware into the area that your distro uses for firmware.

on my machine i had to copy to:
/lib/firmware
/usr/lib/hotplug/firmware
and i also setup a symlink to /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware that is in the /lib/firmware directoy =)
user@computer:/lib/firmware# ln -s /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware firmware

good luck!

p.s. after all this if you get no errors reboot - then try type #iwconfig (you should see you ipw2200)
