intel corp. pro/wireless 2100 3b mini pci adapter. Connect to wireless?

Hi everyone

I have intel corp. pro/wireless 2100 3b mini pci adapter.
Laptop is dell d400.
Using centos version 5.5

How do I connect to the wireless?I've tried search the net and typing some commands

eg. lsmod --> ipw2100 existed but it had used by : 0

I also went to system > network > devices, whoever when I had to choose my adapter, the one that I'm using (intel 2100 3b) didn't exist.

yum install ipw2100 --> could not find package

Does anyone have the same card and any luck on connecting to the net?

please note that ethernet works fine

You probably need to install the 2100-firmware package.

http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Laptops/Wireless

If the driver module exists, another named package supplied it (ipw2100) and you don't need the module installed, just install the firmware. Reading your kernel boot messages may verify this.

No package ipw availavble
No package 2100-firmware available
Nothing to do

I tried to manual install the firmware however, the server doesn't contain the package anymore

is this a common problem int he community?

http://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalRes...ies%2FRPMForge

Please read through the first link I provided. It mentions adding rpmforge as a repository. You may find the firmware package there.

Also this may be the package you need: http://pkgs.repoforge.org/ipw2100-firmware/
