Installing Ralink 2870 USB in Fedora 11

Hi all

I am new to Linux and am trying to install a Ralink Wirless USB stick to my Dell computer with Fedora 11. I have downloaded the correct Linux driver off the website and now I need to extract and make the file. Does anyone have any idea how to do this?

Many thanks
Pete

Probaly this driver may already be automatically loading. Connect your stick and please post the output of
Code:
lsmod
command, to show all loaded modules and the output of
Code:
lsusb
command. What kind of package did you download, *rpm, *.tar etc?

This is your stick
Code:
lsusb:
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 148f:2070 Ralink Technology, Corp.
But I don't see module of your stick. You have to unpack your package with tar:

Code:
tar -xzvf *tar.bz
Code:
cd
to unpacked directory and install the driver following README file.

Your steps approximately should be:
Code:
./configure
make
make install

Hi

I have a wireless USB stick from Dynamode ("11G USB ADAPTER, WL-700G-M")
It gives the same lsusb line:
Code:
Bus 002 Device 007: ID 148f:2070 Ralink Technology, Corp.
After installing kmod-rt2870
Code:
in my case, precisely:
yum install kmod-rt2870-2.6.30.10-105.2.23.fc11.x86_64.x86_64
the stick works smoothly and is supported by NetworkManager.
While fooling around to make this work, I had appended the lines
Code:
# wireless devices
blacklist rt2x00usb
blacklist rt2x00lib
blacklist rt2800usb
to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf, but probably that's not necessary.
