installing CNEt CWC-854 on whax 3.0
Ok folks i'm a noob to the linux world and got version 3.0 of whax dual booting on my laptop for some testing!
I have the above PCMCIA card, which works perfectly fine in windows, but i'll be dammed if i can install it in slax. I'm looking for some guidance/expertise on this one so i can get it working. Thanks in Advance, Marc |
well, welcome to linux. Since it is a pcmcia device lets tests that linux sees the device first. Its been awhile since i've played with a pcmcia device, but it shouldn't be a problem.
as rood open up a terminal and run Code:
cardmgr Quote:
the manufacturer of that card didn't make any linux drivers, so you'll have to use windows ones =P. go to http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net download it. Then do Code:
tar -zxvf ndiswrapper.tar.gz Next you'll need the windows drivers for your card. you'll need 2 files, one ending in .inf and the other .sys. After you get them copied over do Code:
ndiswrapper -i urdriver.inf to set your ssid and such read Code:
man iwconfig the website is wpa_supplicant but it seems to be down at the moment. If you get stuck at any part, you can post here. While you are waiting for a reply it would be a good idea to search the forums for problems like yours. |
