On ethernet: Hopefully your NIC is detected and its working to check if its detected do this in the terminal
Code:
lspci
You should see something like this if its detected:
0000:00:09.0 Ethernet controller: .......
Then proceed to setup your iBurst account this way
Code:
sudo pppoeconf
I think u press enter until it shows where u put your username: somebody@wbs.co.za and password:*******. Follow the instructions after that.
Et voila!
Test your connectivity by pinging www.iburst.co.za
On USB, hoooooo thats a tough one with Ubuntu because u have to compile a new kernel like I did today and install the drivers from the site I gave u earlier.
Yes I have IBurst running on SuSe 9.1
I manually set up a DSL connection under Yast Network configuration.
It auto detected the desktop unit as a DSL device.
Under PPP mode I set it as "PPP over ethernet"
I made sure that my firewall was protecting it as an external device.
Later I added and configured it through a Gigabyte router to add additional workstations.
The router gave me a few problems at first though.
Had no other problems so far. (Touch wood : )
I have finally managed to get iburst UTD running in Linspire 5.0. a tech guy from a linspire distributor contacted me by phone and since i didnt have the money for him to come to my house and fix my problem, he offered to help me via telephone, 10 minutes later i was online and smilling ear to ear. Linspire may have its 'not free' issues but I AM TOTALLY sold with Linspire, $20 per year to use thousands of apps is very cheap, unless you are a miserly poor bugger.
BRAVO Linspire
ps: the linspire 5 cd cost me $1.99, and the cnr subscription $20(for 1 year) thats a whole of: 0.06 cents per day.
