I seen some packages from a google search but knowing the exact distro and version as well as the kernel being used then it is hard to say. You can search google for rt73 rpm and see what is there.

The driver itself must be built to match you running kernel version. It will only work on the kernel it is compiled for so if you found an rpm it must macth the kernel version you are running.

Also seen a second post on this subject here http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=529727 you posted. Mods don't like double posting.

Detailed error can help.
Anyways did you have the kernel source installed when you tried to compile?

No idea as to why it does not compile. It could be anything missing. I do know some files from the kernel source started changing and not actually being there but that seemed to start in the 2.6.19 and up kernels. But it may have started in the 2.6.18 range as well.
