How To set Wifi in MDV ?
 

hi i' on mandriva and i've got a router (hg550 Huawei) that supports wifi , Land , and Dsl . i have no probleme with the two last ones but Wifi i don't know how to use it ,i have the windows .inf file and tried several ways in vain . could anybody please help me ?

To have any hope of helping, we need to know what card or chip set your wireless adapter has. From a command line, run the command 'lspci' and post the results. If this is a laptop; you didn't say; is this a pcmcia card?

Once we know what the hardware is, then we have a look for a linux KLM ( kernel loadable module ) ( a driver in windoze language ). If one exists, then I would suggest you use that.

If a KLM doesn't exist, then we can try installing Ndiswrapper, copy ALL the windoze files used for the card in windoze, then we load the windoze stuff with ndiswrapper.

That gets you to a point where you have a driver, now you have to 1. configure it to work with your router; 2. activate it.

It all starts by you finding out what the hardware is.

that was the output of the command when it comes to wireless , and Yes ,, i have a Compaq Presario c300 Laptop , but i don' know whether or not it is a PCMCIA Card

PCMCIA is a card bus found on laptops. There are many different kinds of cards including wireless cards that are made to plug into a PCMCIA card slot. I was just trying to figure out what hardware you may have, since your first post didn't supply much information.
