How to create a virtual serial connection through bluetooth?

In this tutorial I am reading (http://www.harbaum.org/till/palm/bluetooth/index.html
It says at a certain point that I need to create a virtual serial connection over bluetooth. The program they/he/she/it refers to is rfcommd. The command to use is rfcommd -s. Now, I don't have rfcommd but rfcomm, it uses absolutely no -s command in the help. I went to the link provided and tried to configure and make install the program. ./configure came up with nothing so I had to manualy search the command (I believe ubuntu doesn't have it exported in the shell(?)), and I did a make install. It seem to work except I have no rfcommd.conf nor an rfcommd command/daemon. This is the last part of the tutorial in order for me to connect wirelessly to my computer to browse the net on my PalmOne Tungsten E2 hand pilot. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

"The rfcomm related part of this HOWTO is outdated. The current versions of the BlueZ Linux Bluetooth stack contains a much better rfcomm kernel implementation. See e.g. Bens pages for a more recent setup."

Could this be the problem? I don't have rfcomm or rfcommd either. Nor are they listed in KPackage.
