How do i know if my wireless card is recognized?

I recently installed Zenwalk 2.4 onto my laptop. I have a Netgear WG511T wireless pcmcia card. (I do know the card works with Linux as it was recognized and functioned properly in Mepis.)

With Zenwalk I cannot seem to get it recognized. iwconfig reports : lo no wireless extensions.

I have very little wireless experience with Linux. Please be kind.

does it show up in ifconfig? Have you gone to the distributor web site and downloaded the newest linux drivers for it?

1) Are there any lights to indicate activity? (Not familiar with model). Lights are a good indication it's capable.

2) Check /var/log/messages - this will tell you if the installation is looking for firmware.

3) Do a 'lspci' with the card installed.
