help: Wireless device not present

Hi,

IBM T40 Laptop with Cisco Aeronet wireless built-in.
I'm looking at different distros and just installed StarCom 5. Wireless seemed to be detected, but I couldn't connect although the wireless nic appears on the network gui. I then connected the wired nic to the modem and went thru the automatic update (38 of them). After a reboot, and when I try to enable it, message says "doesn't seem to be present". What do I need to do to get this working ?

OpenSUSE 10.2 had no problems...

Was one of the updates a kernel update?

If so, check if the kernel module is loaded (lsmod).

Yes, a new kernel was installed, displays text "red hat 2.x" instead of StarCom on the first line of boot up screen.

I don't see any kernel in lsmod, here is output:

Can you at least tell me what to look for ?

Edited:
Found I had to download the windows driver and install it with ndiswrapper. wlan now works good.

Thanks,
