gnome network manager not allowing entire password

I just installed Debain ppc 6.0.5 with gnome desktop on a ibook g3.The install went without issue. The only issue is with network manager. With the ethernet cable connected internet is fine. When I try to connect wirelessly and network manager askes for my passphrase.I only enter part of it and the connect button lights up.Then when I enter the rest, the connect button goes dark. Thanks for any help

open the network manager ..then open wireless tab the delete the entry for the wireless network and let the gnome explore it again..
another suggestion..use xfce or anther desktop environment in your distribution to test the connection
try to upgrade the network manager and good luck

Sorry for the delay.I instaled XFCE and was able to connect wirelessly.Howhever.While I was enjoying my ibook's new life.It crashed. On reboot I got the dreaded disk with the flashing question mark. And found my hard drive had died. Thanks for all help. Now I start the arduous task of replacing the HDD.After I find one of course.
