I don't have great connection on desktop but I bought a wireless adapter and I just want to be able to transfer files between my desktop and Epic Touch but I can't get ssh or ftp to work. Not sure exactly about the easiest way to go about this....help

I'm rooted for 4 or 5 years with my Android, so I hope this works

1. Get an android terminal app, and connect to your local wifi point
2. Start sshd on the pc and run ifconfig to see the wifi IP
3. on the android, run ssh <user>@<IP> e.g. if your user is john and pc is on 10.0.0.5, ssh john@10.0.0.5
4. It asks questions and answer them agreeably

If that works and you get in, exit and repeat with sftp john@10.0.0.5
NOW you can transfer files with ftp conmmands - get, put, etc.

I tried ssh but I have openSUSE 12.2 I think that may have something to do with it. I think I'm going to have to ask this on the opensuse forum. thanks for the reply. also rooted and have android terminal emulator and I have tried dropbear and I have even tried setting up my desktop as a server but I am not well versed in networking on that level. I have tried reading the documentation that is up on opensuse site but its verbose and sort of confusing. I am running CM10.1 Wild for the night 3-15 build so at least usb mass storage works and also have a card reader that I can use but I just wanted to experience the wireless networking aspect
