Force an Association to One MAC Address?

How can I force my wpa_supplicant to associate with a particular MAC address? I've rtfm'd wpa_supplicant, wpa_cli, and dhclient, but I don't see a clear answer. If it's not possible I'd like to stop wasting my time.

Background: my building has a string of AP's along the hall. Obviously the one closest to me is where I want to associate, but when my lease is renewed (every 26 min!) the new connection is to a more remote AP down the hall.

Turns out I didn't rtfm enough. wpa_cli has a command wpa_cli bssid <name of AP> <BSSID , i.e. MAC addres of AP>. That's all there was to it. When my lease expires my client reconnects to the specified MAC.
