Anyone have any links to sites with pre compiled drivers, as its driving me mental at the mo . The Craig site seems most explanitory. Is there any chance an experienced user or user with the following config to guide me in "idiots guide to" langauge :

1/ Version of Fedora Core is 2.4.22-1.2115.nptl

2/ Wireless Card is : DLINK DWL 520+

I would be so greatfull if somebody could help me, pleeeease

madwifi

Hi

I've some trouble too.
Using a dlink 520+ with Fedora Core 1 (same kernel than your one).
I've tried to compile the madwifi driver (madwifi.sourceforge.net, also CVS). You have just to copy /boot/config-{kernel version} into /lib/modules/{kernel version}/build/.config (don't forget dot!) and make a new directory called net in the same path.
You should have also the sharutils package (or you can easyly find it on sourceforge) to compile a module of the driver.
go to the directory where you put the sources and make && make install.

Done.

My problem: system find some network hardware (dlink), as I can see with lspci and dmesg. Driver is compiled. But it can not be loaded at start time, and when I try with insmod wlan, (it goes), insomd ath_hal (goes too), insmod ath_pci it fails to load. tells me "no such device".
Someone can help me?

thanks

the wlan-ng drivers work well: http://prism2.unixguru.raleigh.nc.us/

and if those don't match your distro, go here: http://www.linux-wlan.org/

Install the drivers as root, btw.

btw, i updated my fedora kernel and it broke my network connection somehow. So if you use the wlan-ng drivers, think twice about changing the kernel. You may have to recompile the drivers yourself.
