Fedora 5_help installing belkin wireless g usb adapter_Ima Newb_plz help

I am running fedora core 5 on an old computer that was given to me.

It's a computer that was put together and it had windows 98 on it.

I installed a spare 200GB HDD that i had lying around, and i put fedora 5 OS on it.

It didnt have a NIC on it so i'm trying to use a Belkin Wirless G usb adapter on it.

I need some help trying to get it set up.

Can anyone help assist me with this project??

Welcome to LQ!

So Fedora is up to Version 10 now, I think. Fedora 5 is getting long in the tooth. You might want to think about upgrading before investing a lot of effort in the wireless config. The newer version will support many more wireless devices right out of the box.

USB wireless adapters can be problematic. Your first chore is to get the exact model AND version number off the dongle. Then do a Google search for that plus the word LINUX to see if you can determine what driver you need. Companies like Belkin use wireless chipsets from a variety of suppliers and they change all the time. There is a Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) section of this forum that might also help.
