I installed ubuntu after not running linux for a couple years (last system I had was fedora core 1) so I thought i'd give it a try and put it on my insprion 2200 with a dual boot. I Followed the guide on the ubuntu wikki and got the ndiswrapper to install the inf driver I extracted from the dell driver, ran a ndiswrapper -l and it says the hardwarers present ect. than I ran the iwconfig and had 4 devices listed with none of them wireless enabled so somesing is missing I guess. I ran through the tuturials on this site and found one that says that I have to load the driver as a modual using this command
insmod lib/modules/`uname -r`/misc/ndiswrapper.ko (i tried this and /`bob- -r`/) both times it said that no such directory exist. or in other words i'm lost
Just as a side question I have a 1100 page manual on fedora core 1 is it any use for running ubuntu or is it two outdated/incompatiable.
and I just realized i posted in the wrong forum, please don't eat me
