/etc/network/interfaces

What's the correct syntax for this

Code:
iface eth0 static
pre-up iwconfig eth0 key xxx essid yyy
        post-up dhclient eth0
I don't understand how to do this otherwise. Apparently this doesn't work as it should, and neither pre-up nor post-up commands are being executed, but I have a feeling that I've totally misunderstood the syntax anyway.

# This file describes the network interfaces available on your system
# and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces(5).
This is what mine looks like:
Code:
# The loopback network interface
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

# The primary network interface
allow-hotplug eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp

Code:
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp
	wireless-essid xxx
	wireless-key yyy
Found here. A much better explanation than the man page.

Anyway, I don't need allow-hotplug, so I don't have it enabled.
