Dwl G122 Rev C

Hello Everyone, I have read all kinds of posts on this and other forums regarding the Dlink USB Dwl g122 Wireless Network adapter to work with ndiswrapper and just about every link i've found has been to either REV A1 or Rev B.

I am running FC5 with the latest Kernel, I used Yumex to install ndiswrapper and it's module.
I have the Drivers that came with the USB Adapter off the CD and am trying to get them to load with ndiswrapper, Here's all I get

[root@localhost ~]# ndiswrapper -l
Installed drivers:
prisma02 driver installed

[root@localhost ~]# lsusb
Bus 003 Device 004: ID 090c:1000 Feiya Technology Corp. Memory Bar
Bus 003 Device 003: ID 07d1:3c03 D-Link System
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 03f0:3f11 Hewlett-Packard PSC-1315/PSC-1317
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

[root@localhost ~]#

As you can tell the prisma02 driver is loaded but it doesn't say hardware anything. Now you see when i types lsusb it displays the D-Link System That's My card.

Now how in the heck am I suppose to get ndiswrapper to work?
Everywhere I've tried to download the Drivers for the DWL-G122 REV C all I get is a bloody EXE File and don't know how to extract anything out of it and I really don't want to have to install this card on my laptop that runs xp just to get the bloody drivers out of Setup.exe that I download from the D-Link site.

Another Thing I've noticed and i'll paste here is this....

;###############################################################################

[Strings]

;String ID = String Text

;--------- -----------

VER_VENDOR_STR = "D-Link"

VER_VENDOR_NAME_STR = "D-Link"

INSTALL_DISK_STR = "D-Link Wireless LAN Install Disk"

A021_DESC_STR = "D-Link AirPlus G DWL-G122 Wireless USB Adapter"

A0210_DESC_STR = "D-Link AirPlus G DWL-G120 Wireless USB Adapter"

A022_DESC_STR = "D-Link AirPlus G DWL-G122 Wireless USB Adapter(rev.A2)"

A0221_DESC_STR = "D-Link AirPlus G DWL-G120 Wireless USB Adapter(rev.C)"

A02_SERVICE_STR = "D-Link Wireless 802.11b/g Driver (USB)"

That is a snippit out of the PRISMA02.inf File that is the File that works with Windows, Notice that it doesn't say anywhere in there that the DWL-G122 Rev C. It has DWL-G122 Rev.A2 and DWL-G120 Rev.C but nothing for the actual DWL-G122 Rev.C So is this my problem? It IS the file that came on the CD with the D-Link Adapter.

I've also tried the Native Linux drivers That are in this package.
RT2571W/RT2671 Available at http://www.ralinktech.com/supp-1.htm
but when I fallow the README The Configure seems to go through no problem whatso ever but I get an error when I tried Make. I don't have the error on a screen or i'd paste it here.

Anyways, I have the RT2571W/RT2671 + RT2500USB Windows Drivers and Need help getting them out of the Setup.exe file and hopefully get them to work with ndiswrapper.

Sorry for the long a$$ post I hope there's enough info here to atleast give someone an idea on the direction i'm goin or what's goin wrong.

This is a paste of one of the files created by ndiswrapper when i install the PRISMA02.inf file

I've Since Got all the Files from the RT2571W/RT2671 + RT2500USB Windows Drivers and have installed DriverLoader It seems to install the drivers fine, tells me i need to point to the .inf and .sys file etc it then says installation was okay but there doesn't seem to be any device connected to my machine but yet in lsusb it's there...

See this for how to extract exe and cab files - http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/m...s_or_CAB_files - be aware you can install any driver you wish but that doesn't mean its going to work. ndiswrapper -l has to say driver and hardware present. Going by the usbid 07d1:3c03 driver files DR71WU.INF and DR71WU.SYS from the CD are verified as working so try them and see what happens (if they are on the CD).

I have no DR71WU.INF

i do not have that file, just the DR71WU.SYS

And cabextract on the setup.exe file tells me there's no cab files..
It's a useless windows self-installer I dunno how to get anything out of it..

To find the .inf file search in the \Windows\inf\ directory or search for all files named DR71WU.*

got the inf and sys

**** This method is with DriverLoader and It Keeps saying I need .Sys mentioned below, If I click on okay and not point out the second file it looks for it will go ahead and install/load the drivers with just the DR71WU.inf and DR71WU.sys and no dr71wu98.sys but it tells me there is no device detected. ******

=======This one is with ndiswrapper and just the two DR71WU.inf and .sys files
Here Is the Dr71WU.inf and .sys files up and running with ndiswrapper
as you can tell I can not modprobe ndiswrapper for some reason i'm not sure what this error means.

[root@localhost ~]# ndiswrapper -l
Installed drivers:

[root@localhost ~]# modprobe ndiswrapper

If this is with driverloader then can't help so google dr71wu98.sys
and driveragent have it as part of installation cd at a price but it must be somewhere on your disk. Try unloading drivers and start again using either ndiswrapper or driverloader but not both.

I've googled for the missing file, All i got was one link to a page that wasn't even english but had a link to a setup.exe file, I will download it and try it later. I am not trying to get it working with BOTH ndiswrapper and DriverLoader at the same time, I get pissed at one and jump back to the other..
So far like i mentioned I have ndiswrapper loading the driver and finding the hardware but when i ifconfig wlan0 it says there's no such thing. And this is All right now with ndiswrapper. I'll keep at this since it @least found the hardware at last...
now i just need to figure out why it isn't wlan0 or what it device it is listed as..

Well I'm Close but I can't smell any roses..

I've got everything working so it seems with ndiswrapper

[root@localhost ~]# ndiswrapper -l
Installed drivers:
dr71wu driver installed, hardware present
[root@localhost ~]#

Now here's my problem...

alias eth0 skge
alias eth1 forcedeth
alias scsi_hostadapter sata_sil
alias scsi_hostadapter1 sata_nv
alias snd-card-0 snd-intel8x0
options snd-card-0 index=0
options snd-intel8x0 index=0
remove snd-intel8x0 { /usr/sbin/alsactl store 0 >/dev/null 2>&1 || : ; }; /sbin/modprobe -r --ignore-remove snd-intel8x0
alias snd-card-2 snd-mpu401
options snd-card-2 index=2
options snd-mpu401 index=2
remove snd-mpu401 { /usr/sbin/alsactl store 2 >/dev/null 2>&1 || : ; }; /sbin/modprobe -r --ignore-remove snd-mpu401
alias eth2 de620

Notice the last alias eth2 de620 Well that's what it is calling my wireless ethernet card and I have NO idea how to make it wlan0.

for kicks I can goto system/administration/network and pick add new network connection, pick ethernet card and sure as heck it's listed there as a D-link pocket ethernet adapter. So for fun i fallow everything and then save it. When i try to activate device it tells me it's no where to be found delaying initialization.

[root@localhost ~]# ifup eth2
ndiswrapper device eth2 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization.
[root@localhost ~]# ndiswrapper -l
Installed drivers:
dr71wu driver installed, hardware present
[root@localhost ~]#

Drivers installed, Hardware present. I don't know what else to do..
Anyways Thanks again..

This error "ndiswrapper: probe of 3-3:1.0 failed with error -22" is referred to here http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/m...doesn.27t_work and a couple of solutions - hope we are on the right lines!

Edit: Didn't notice this before "Windows driver is not 32-bit" and driverloader is doing something as well.

Here is a guy with same card/problem and his is now working http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/sho...&page=33&pp=15 (jrmy)

[root@linuxbox ~]#

I have fallowed the directions on this page
http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/m...p/Installation

Fallowed all the commands setting essid etc. It appears to be loaded and I have both lights on, Link and Activity but I can't use it to connect to the internet, I know I read somewhere to change it from wlan0 to eth2 or any eth that you don't allready have, i can't find that post again i'm thinking that may be the problem i'm not too sure.
Even if I use Wireless Assistant to try and load the connection it tells me connection fails.
Any ideas what I can do now?
Thanks again

Ok it's normally ndiswrapper -m but you may have to add "/sbin/modprobe ndiswrapper" to /etc/rc.d/rc.local
